Donate Eyeglasses & Hearing Aids
We need to constantly replenish our supply of used eyeglasses. Because of scratched lenses, only one in three pair of donated eyeglasses can be recycled. There is a great demand for children’s eyeglasses.
You can donate eyeglasses by depositing them in a Lions Club collection box, mailing them to the Center, or dropping them off at the Center. Our physical address is:
2040 Broadmoor Avenue
Chesapeake, VA 23323
For more information or to request eyeglasses please contact:
Lion Randy Jones
Send hearing aids, too. We pass them on to the Lions Hearing Aid Bank Foundation which recycles them:
Central Virginia Lions Hearing Aid Bank
10286 Staples Mill Road -131

Email: email@example.com .
Ship or mail your donation. If shipping by UPS or FedEx, please indicate a “shipper’s release,” that is, instructions to UPS or FedEx to deliver the package without requiring s signature.
Your donation is tax deductible. If you desire a tax receipt, leave a note with the eyeglasses containing your name, address and telephone number.
We appreciate each donation we receive and thank all of you who have supported this project.
Who We Are
The Virginia Lions Eyeglass Recycling Center provides used eyeglasses to various missions sponsored by Lions and other groups.
Used eyeglasses have been shipped to Honduras, Guyana, Peru, Ukraine, Guatemala, Brazil, Thailand, Romania, Haiti, Brazil, Nicaragua, Malawi, Dominican Republic, St. Croix, Puerto Rico, Israel, the Republic of Congo, and Ecuador. The center has also sent glasses to the Republic of Sri Lanka and Mexico for use in their permanent distribution centers. In addition, the center partners with local organizations to conduct international health fairs and expeditions. The center received a donation of approximately 264,000 pairs of sunglasses (worth US$2 million) from Gifts-In-Kind International.
In the past, the Lions Eyeglass Recycling Center of Northern Virginia coordinated the “Helping the World to See” program. The center worked with United Airlines, the Sterling Lions, and 45 public schools to collect eyeglasses for one month. The donated eyeglasses were cleaned, categorized by prescription, packaged, and shipped via United Airlines to Thailand. A doctor in Bangkok distributed the used eyeglasses to children and adults.
There is another satellite, the Lions Eyeglass Recycling Center of Eastern Virginia.
What We Do
More Volunteers Doing More Community Work in More Places than Any Service Club Organization
When it comes to meeting challenges, our response is simple: We serve. In over 200 countries, in hospitals and senior centers, in regions battered by natural disaster, in schools and eyeglass recycling centers, Lions are doing community volunteer work, helping, leading, planning and supporting. Because we’re local, we can serve the unique needs of the communities we live in. And because we’re global, we can address challenges that go beyond borders.
We want everyone to see a better tomorrow. That’s why we support sight programs and services including vision screenings, eye banks and eyeglass recycling. Provide eye care services to those at risk of losing their sight. And raise donations through campaigns like SightFirst and Campaign SightFirst II.
We believe everyone deserves a healthy life. From providing health programs that focus on hearing loss to supporting efforts to control and prevent diabetes, Lions volunteers are working to improve the health of children and adults around the world.
We empower the next generation. Whether it’s providing youth volunteer opportunities and leadership experiences in a Leo club or sharing a message of peace through our Peace Poster contest, our youth programs invest in the future by reaching out to young people.
We serve local communities – and protect the planet. From performing hands-on community work and service projects to providing emergency assistance, our community and environment programs improve our communities – and protect the environment.
There are many ways to get involved. Here are just a few of the many opportunities to do volunteer community work when you join the Lions:
